The Trinity Cross is the symbol of the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. In 1989 the Trinity Cross was blessed by Pope John Paul II and a cross is kept in the Vatican. The Bishop of Iceland has also blessed this artefact. The Trinity Cross has proven very popular with the public and has found a firm place in the minds of many people who regard it as a talisman. It is a popular gift at Christmas, confirmations, christenings, graduation and birthdays. The smallest cross (no. 4) is often given to young children to commemmorate their birth or christening.

The Trinity Cross was designed by Ásgeir Gunnarsson and consists of three connected crosses made from yellow, red and white 14 carat gold. It is available in four different sizes and also as a brooch.
The Icelandic Society for the Blind distributes and sells the crosses in Iceland. It is a privately-owned society and raises funds by selling lottery tickets, Trinity Crosses and similar things. The aim of the society is look after the interests of the blind and visually impaired in Iceland and to increase their rights. The society also aims at increasing social services to the blind and visually impaired.
